Specialist Physiotherapist – Stroke rotational (York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust)


We are looking for an enthusiastic and self‑motivated Physiotherapist to join our Stroke team. The post offers the opportunity to develop clinical skills in managing patients within our Stroke service across the Acute Stroke Unit, Stroke Rehabilitation IPU and the Community Stroke Team in York.


Key Responsibilities

  • Specialist assessment and treatment for patients suffering from Stroke.
  • Contribute to service and professional development.
  • Support student practice placements and supervise colleagues.
  • Transport equipment and travel to rural community sites if required.
  • Develop clinical skills, operational awareness, service improvement and leadership.
  • Proactive in professional development and support others.
  • Manage complex clinical presentations and discharge planning.

Person Specification
Essential

  • HCPC Registered Physiotherapist.
  • Experience delivering clinical treatment within a specialist area.
  • Developed/specialist clinical skills within relevant area.
  • Evidence of ability to manage complex clinical presentations.
  • Experience in a relevant junior role, managing conditions including Stroke and neurology patients.
  • Delivery of relevant audit/research.
  • Ability to demonstrate our organisational values and behaviours.
  • Able to communicate complex information effectively, clearly and accurately in plain simple language, verbally and in writing.

Desirable

  • Recognised post‑graduate training within Stroke and neurology care and rehabilitation.
  • Experience of training/supporting others (including students) within specialist clinical area.
