The Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic Physiotherapist to work as part of our friendly and experienced team in the MSK Physiotherapy Service within NHS GG&C. The post is located within Greater Glasgow and Clyde, initially based within South, Clyde & East Quadrants, but may require future work in the West quadrant. The candidate requires relevant postgraduate experience, including experience within the musculoskeletal speciality. They will be expected to work autonomously to assess and manage a designated caseload of complex MSK Physiotherapy patients while supporting more junior staff, rotational staff and students. The post holder will contribute to local operational management, lead or contribute to service development and QI projects, take part in audit and deputise for more senior staff where appropriate.


Duration, Location, and Working Pattern

  • Location based within Greater Glasgow and Clyde initially within the South, Clyde & East Quadrants, with potential future work in the West quadrant.
  • Permanent Contract
  • Full‑time Position (37 hours per week)
  • Shift pattern: Monday to Friday, 08:30 – 16:30

Key Responsibilities

  • Professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of own work, including direct and indirect patient care.
  • Self‑referral allows patients to refer themselves into the service; referrals are also accepted from GPs and Consultants. Staff must triage, prioritise and manage an unpredictable patient group efficiently.
  • Identify patients at risk of serious pathology who require urgent referral to other services (e.g., A&E, G.P., back pain service) and manage ongoing referral appropriately.
  • Use clinical reasoning to assess, analyse and interpret both clinical and non‑clinical information, and provide a comprehensive clinical diagnosis to determine the need for physiotherapy intervention, including complex presentations.
  • Plan and implement a specialised programme of care, evaluate, treat and progress individual patient care to maximise rehabilitation potential, including decisions regarding discharge from physiotherapy care.
  • Work within a legal framework to assess capacity and gain valid informed consent for treatment from all patients.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job

  • Degree or diploma in Physiotherapy
  • Current HPC registration
  • A minimum of 4 years postgraduate experience, including 2 years within the musculoskeletal speciality.
  • Relevant postgraduate qualification in manual therapy or working towards this.
  • Training through postgraduate courses, regular in‑service training and evidence of application of acquired skills.
  • Demonstrable advance in clinical skills from postgraduate courses identified in CPD diary.
  • Working knowledge of basic IT (word processing, internet use, database management).
  • Updates to meet statutory requirements: Moving & Handling, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, Fire Safety.
