A Senior Mechanical Design Engineer sought for a well-established and internationally recognised manufacturer. The company are experiencing ongoing growth and success within their markets.

The role would suit a Mechanical Design Engineer with experience in leading others and working collaboratively with other teams. You will have experience performing design work on electro-mechanical mechanisms and equipment, including both new product development and for current products to enhance productivity. Food packaging experience would be highly advantageous but those from industrial or agricultural equipment, oil and gas, or water treatment industries are encouraged to apply.


The role will task you in taking ownership of all mechanical aspects of a project as well as the full product lifecycle from initial concept through to build and support of commissioning and installation. You will perform design work on both customer and development projects and communicate with design engineers to ensure all mechanical and electrical disciplines are fully coordinated. You will attend specification meetings with global customers to provide authoritative contribution and ideas regarding the mechanical design aspects of projects. You will document all project related material, produce parts lists, drawings and report progress to project managers.

The role:

  • Perform design work on both customer and development projects
  • Communicate with design engineers and other teams to ensure projects are completed on time and to budget
  • Take ownership of all mechanical aspects of a project
  • Provide assistance during the build phase and assisting with commissioning
  • Attend specification meetings with global customers to provide authoritative contribution
  • Attend project meetings and update Project Managers with engineering progress
  • Document all project related material
  • Provide support to Sales and Applications Manager regarding drawings, design hours, part costs and assembly hours


The person:

  • Experienced in the design of electro-mechanical mechanisms and equipment
  • Advanced 3D design skills, SolidWorks is advantageous
  • Sheet metal experience is advantageous
  • Ability to read and produce 2D production drawings
  • Confident to take the technical lead in a team
  • Excellent problem solving and trouble shooting ability
  • Qualified to Degree level or equivalent in Engineering
