About The Role

You will be taking a leading role within the Design team by developing efficient, profitable and sustainable designs for significant Renewable Energy and Sustainability projects right through from initial concept up to fully detailed designs, installation plans, drawings, equipment selection and project guidance.

You will be taking a leading role within the Design team by developing efficient, profitable and sustainable designs for significant Renewable Energy and Sustainability projects right through from initial concept up to fully detailed designs, installation plans, drawings, equipment selection and project guidance.

Key responsibilities

  • Managing project submissions, projects in contract, and business development work designated to the team
  • Producing designs, drawings, specifications and calculations, and inputting technical detail into the company’s quality design process
  • Taking a leading role in developing efficient, profitable and sustainable designs to be used from initial concept phase through to project delivery
  • Appraising and interpreting client requirements, and ensuring designs meet time, budget and compliance requirements
  • Inputting into scheme costings and minimising impact of design issues
  • Carrying out relevant plant and equipment selection
  • Conducting HAZOP studies and Risk Assessments
  • Checking the work of more junior design engineers and providing guidance to those under you to support with team-wide continuous professional development
  • Contributing to the overall management, standards, workforce planning, training and continuous improvement of the Design department

What you will need

  • Educated to at least HNC/HND level in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering, or similar discipline (Degree level education advantageous)
  • 4+ years’ Design experience in at least one of the following fields: Building Services, CHP, Boilers/Heating, HVAC, Steam, Air Handling, Cooling, Renewable Energy (e.g Solar or Heat Pumps), or similar
  • Competent in AutoCAD
  • Experience with Revit, IES-VE or Hevacomp (advantageous)
  • Full UK manual driving licence
