Senior Mechanical Design Engineer - Asset Intelligence

What you will be doing

An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join the team at Galliford Try within our Asset Intelligence Business. Ideally, you will be based in or around the Warrington area and will have the opportunity to travel across multiple sites/projects in the Region.

  • To carry out Mechanical design and project management of various types of projects in accordance with the company aims and policies.
  • To manage design team and provide Mechanical engineering support to all Mechanical engineers
  • Liaise with clients and attend meetings on all aspects of the projects.
  • Maintain and expand client base.
  • Carry out surveys and produce reports.
  • Carry out quality inspections of projects.
  • Monitor financial aspects of projects.
  • Formulate Mechanical and Technical standards within the organisation.
  • Mentor and oversee junior staff.
  • Significant Experience and knowledge (typically 5+ years) of current Regulations and Current Industry Standards, and best practices including energy related controls, sustainability etc.
  • Working in a consultancy or contractors
  • Provide concept designs and costings and assist in tender preparation including specification writing
  • Sound understanding of design principles including heating/cooling distribution, boiler/CHP systems, ventilation systems, flue systems, general HVAC / building services engineering, with steam system design principles being advantageous but not essential.
  • Have a good understanding of controls integration and be able to liaise with the controls team to help steer control philosophy and assist creation of descriptions of operation
  • Development of initial concept designs to full detailed design on successful projects - taking the lead of the electrical team as required
  • Producing design drawings in accordance with the RIBA stages and BG6 Design framework for Building Services
  • Productions of design calculations both manual and software type
  • Production of drawings manually. CAD experiences essential
  • Production of tender packages
  • Carry out site surveys in various parts of the UK
  • Carry out on-site project management
  • Production of snagging and condition reports
  • Attend design meetings, and others as required, to provide project and enquiries updates
  • Attend project meetings internally and with clients as required
  • Assist and support of any problems and issues on site as and when they occur.
About You
  • Experience in a fast paced, national, and multi-site business.
  • Chartered Engineer or working towards with professional body registration such as CIBSE or IET.
  • Knowledge of;

  • Revit / BIM Standards (UK)
  • HTM & HBN (desirable) (desirable)
  • RIBA or BG6 Frameworks
  • A familiarity of National Design Specifications (NES/NBS)

  • Autocad
  • Microsoft applications, Word PDF, Excel Presentation etc.
  • Amtech
  • Dialux or Relux
  • Revit (Desirable)
