Position

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a temporary rotational physiotherapist based within the East Ayrshire Health & Social Care Partnership. The rotations are In-patient and Community Rehabilitation at East Ayrshire Community Hospital; and Trauma & Orthopaedics, Unscheduled Care, and Surgical at University Hospital Crosshouse. This post is offered on a fixed‑term / secondment basis until end of March 2027. Interviews for this post will take place on 25th March.


Hours

37 hours per week. From 1 April 2026, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change staff in Scotland will be reduced. Full‑time hours will reduce from 37 to 36 hours (pro rata for part‑time staff) without loss of earnings.


UK Driving Licence

A UK driving licence is essential for this role.


What You Will Do

This post will be ideal for candidates looking to develop within their career to gain experience of a more senior clinical role without committing to a permanent speciality. You will be responsible for delivering highly skilled physiotherapy to patients in the respective clinical areas, acting as a senior clinical decision maker, leading complex care and discharge planning, and delivering rehabilitation to ensure patients are optimally rehabilitated and discharged effectively and efficiently. Community and lone working will form a facet of some rotations. You will make onward referrals to other services as required. You will also support the development of less experienced, unregistered staff and students within the team. In turn, you will be supported to develop into the role and responsibilities of a Band 6 clinician and of the relevant specialist skills of each rotation. You will be passionate about empowering patients to achieve their goals and to remain as independent and active as possible. Participation in service improvement is expected and encouraged. Contribution to the on‑call physiotherapy service is a requirement of the post.


Knowledge, Training And/or Experience Required For This Post

  • Diploma/MSc/BSc in Physiotherapy
  • Current Health & Care Professions Council registration
  • Proven clinical experience in relevant clinical speciality
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Recognised additional postgraduate qualifications relevant to the post
  • Practice education and clinical development of others
