Mechanical Day Technician (m/f/d)
Responsibilities & Qualifications
What awaits you

  • You are attending to breakdowns throughout the day, and ensuring the plant is down for the least time possible
  • You ensure all PMs allocated are done and followed up with any feedback to the engineering planner
  • You are responsible for ensuring the correct escalation process is followed in the event of an out of hours problem occurring
  • You are following up problems and developing solutions in cooperation with the Lead Engineer
  • You make sure that all safety regulations are met whilst work is undertaken, and you ensure equipment is made safe for use

How You Convince Us

  • You have an A level education, ONC or HNC/D diploma or equivalent
  • You bring at least 5 years of working experience in a similar position in a heavy industry environment
  • You are familiar with all aspects of pneumatics and hydraulics and you have good fault-finding attributes
  • You have strong working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and life safety monitoring and control systems typically used in critical environment
  • Working knowledge of gas burners would be an additional advantage
  • You have good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, Outlook

Location Profile

The Novelis Latchford plant, a suburb of Warrington, Cheshire in England, employs approximately 200 employees. It is one of Europe’s largest aluminium used beverage cans recycling plants and Europe’s largest closed-loop recycling operation for automotive aluminium rolled products with an annual recycling capacity of up to 195,000 tonnes. The plant is an essential part of Novelis’ European production and collaborated with Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) to create the first closed-loop system in Europe with a dedicated railway service to efficiently deliver aluminium between Novelis and JLR’s production site in the UK.


The Latchford plant is committed to its community in supporting math and science education to local schools as well as sharing the value of safety and works with a local charitable foundation to sponsor health. In addition Novelis UK supports the program "Every Can Counts" to actively promote can recycling across Europe.
