Job Description

As a Senior/Staff Mechanical Engineer within the Ball Bonder Business Unit’s Mechanical Engineering organization, this position will be dedicated to the mechanical development of new wire bonding equipment as well as the continuous improvement support of existing products.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for high accuracy/speed motion subsystem’s mechanical development and existing product enhancement.
  • Responsible for implementation, structural analysis, modification and verification testing of semiconductor equipment based on overall system specifications.
  • Work on a broad range of activities such as hands‑on detailed mechanism design, using analytical skills in subsystem design, identifying the root cause of technical issues as well as some customer support.
  • Collaborate with supplier for fabrication, test and ensure delivery of final products to customer successfully.
Qualifications
  • 5 or more years working experience in mechanical subsystem design & test in semiconductor equipment areas.
  • Able to apply knowledge of mechanical and electro‑mechanical design and diagnosis methods in developing products.
  • Design Experience with motion subsystem, servo linear motor or piezo actuator.
  • Ability to diagnose and solve motion control and servo‑mechanism issues, and experience in servo control design will be an advantage.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD modelling, detailing drawings, Structural and modal analysis with FEM.
  • Experience using dynamic measurement tools to conduct hardware testing.
  • In‑depth Knowledge of machining practices, GD&T standards, material properties & structural vibrations.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Able to research and analyze design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and requirements of designs.
  • Experience in managing a technical project a plus.
  • Bachelor, Master or Ph.D of Mechanical, Mechatronics or Precision Engineering.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to think outside the box.
  • Innovative thinking.
  • Positive Attitude.
  • Team player with a cross functional mindset.
  • Result‑driven and can‑do mentality.
  • Willingness to travel (up to 20%) and hold off‑hours calls.
