Mechanical SME - Grey Utilities SME - UK, Manchester - Long Term Contract

Our client is currently seeking the skills of a Mechanical SME - Grey Utilities SME to join their team. Our client develops and delivers life changing medicines to millions of people globally and as part of their growth. With their Drug Substance (DS) manufacturing network growing rapidly, they are committed to growing their portfolio of commercial biologics products supplied worldwide – and this is your opportunity to be involved!


What You\'ll Do

  • Engage with key project stakeholders to ensure their needs are understood and accurately reflected in the Concept Design (CD).
  • Prepare Project Technical Requirements Specifications for all systems, including performance requirements and applicable project or industry standards.
  • Ensure all relevant specifications are issued to the design contractor in a complete and timely manner.
  • Define and agree design deliverables with the design contractor for all project design stages (CD, BD, DD), including the required level of detail and review.

Requirements

  • Experience working with Electrical Power Systems, including site electrical connections, HV systems, LV main boards, generators, and UPS systems. In addition, candidates should have experience with Building Services Systems, such as Building Management Systems (BMS), security systems (including access control, CCTV, and intrusion detection), and voice/data communication systems.
  • Extensive relevant capital project experience, with strong technical and execution exposure on major capital investments—ideally within the pharmaceutical or biotech sector.
  • Strong track record collaborating with design contractors and equipment suppliers on large‑scale, complex projects, ensuring alignment, quality, and timely delivery across multidisciplinary teams.
