Employment Type: Permanent

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a technical environment, enjoys taking ownership of complex design challenges, and can deliver high‑quality engineering solutions across multiple projects.

You will play a key role in designing, developing, and industrialising next‑generation high voltage components and systems, ensuring reliability, manufacturability, and technical excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop HV components and systems including insulation structures, connectors, and mechanical assemblies.
  • Produce detailed 3D CAD models and engineering drawings in accordance with BS 8888.
  • Apply dielectric design principles to manage electric field stress, insulation integrity, and long‑term system reliability.
  • Take full ownership of design solutions from concept through prototype validation and industrialisation.
  • Plan and conduct prototype and HV withstand testing, interpreting results to refine designs.
  • Use engineering calculations and FEA tools to correlate analysis with testing and optimise mechanical and electrical performance.
  • Validate engineering decisions using evidence, testing results, and sound engineering judgement.
  • Produce clear and structured technical reports, design documentation, and presentations.
  • Ensure solutions are robust, manufacturable, and aligned with cost, schedule, and technical constraints.
  • Independently identify root causes and implement effective engineering solutions.
  • Communicate technical concepts and design decisions clearly across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Build strong working relationships with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and customers.
  • Understand customer technical requirements and translate them into practical engineering solutions.
  • Represent the engineering team confidently during technical discussions with customers.
  • Act as a trusted technical contributor and role model within the team.
  • Guide and mentor less experienced engineers with constructive feedback and knowledge sharing.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve designs, processes, and engineering best practices.
  • Develop expertise continuously and apply new learning to strengthen technical output.

About You

  • Proven track record delivering multiple technical design projects.
  • Demonstrable experience producing mechanical designs across several projects.
  • Strong understanding and application of GD&T in accordance with BS 8888.
  • Evidence of practical engineering application in previous roles.
  • Ability to justify design decisions using engineering principles, calculations, and data.

Desirable Experience

  • Prototype testing, result interpretation, and iterative design refinement.
  • Experience correlating test data with analysis and improving designs using FEA.
  • Background in concept generation, ideation, and industrialisation of mechanical systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent – or significant relevant experience.

New Edge Computing Employers to Watch in 2026: UK and Global Companies Shaping Edge Innovation

Edge computing is transforming how data is processed by bringing compute power closer to the source of generation. With the proliferation of Internet of Things (IoT), real‑time analytics, autonomous systems, and latency‑sensitive applications, edge computing has moved from a niche discipline to a core component of digital infrastructure. In 2026, organisations that specialise in or heavily invest in edge computing are expanding their teams to build distributed systems, real‑time analytics platforms, and edge‑optimised AI. For professionals exploring opportunities on www.EdgeComputingJobs.co.uk , understanding which employers are growing, winning contracts, or securing investment is essential. This article highlights the new and high‑growth edge computing employers to watch in 2026, including UK startups, international innovators with a UK presence, and established companies shifting strategy toward edge.

How Many Edge Computing Tools Do You Need to Know to Get an Edge Computing Job?

If you’re trying to start or grow a career in edge computing, it can feel like you’re navigating a maze of tools, frameworks and platforms — Kubernetes, Docker, IoT frameworks, AWS Greengrass, Azure IoT Edge, OpenShift, TinyML toolkits, networking orchestration, real-time streaming frameworks, and on it goes. Scroll job boards and community forums and it’s easy to conclude that unless you master every buzzword imaginable, you’ll never get a job. Here’s the honest truth most edge computing hiring managers won’t necessarily say out loud: 👉 They don’t hire you because you know every edge computing tool — they hire you because you can solve real system problems using the tools you know. Tools matter, yes — but only when they support clear outcomes: reliable systems, performance at scale, secure edge deployments and real business value. So how many edge computing tools do you actually need to know to secure a job? For most edge computing roles, the answer is fewer than you think — and a lot clearer when sorted by fundamentals and roles. This guide shows you what matters, what doesn’t, and how to focus your time wisely so you come across as capable, confident and employable.

What Hiring Managers Look for First in Edge Computing Job Applications (UK Guide)

In today’s fast-evolving tech landscape, edge computing is one of the most sought-after fields — blending distributed systems, embedded systems, networking, cloud, IoT, data and real-time processing. But that also means hiring managers are highly selective. They scan applications fast and look for signals of relevance, impact, technical depth and real-world delivery long before they read every line. This guide demystifies what hiring managers in edge computing look for first in your application — so you can tailor your CV, portfolio and cover letter to jump out of the stack. Whether you’re targeting edge systems roles, embedded IoT edge jobs, edge-native data roles, edge platform engineering or edge-AI positions, this checklist will help you position your experience in a way hiring managers can trust immediately.
