We’re currently looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our depot team in Warrington. This is a hands‑on role where you’ll play a vital part in keeping our hire equipment safe, reliable, and ready for customers.


About the Role

Based at our Warrington depot, you’ll be responsible for carrying out mechanical repairs, servicing, and assembly across a broad range of industrial hire equipment, including power tools and lifting equipment. You’ll help ensure all maintenance and repairs are prioritised effectively, minimising downtime and supporting smooth depot operations.


Your day‑to‑day responsibilities will include:



  • Diagnosing mechanical faults and completing repairs on returned hire equipment.
  • Carrying out planned servicing and preventative maintenance to company and manufacturer standards.
  • Assembling, testing, and preparing equipment ready for rehire.
  • Prioritising workloads effectively to meet operational demands and customer requirements.
  • Completing service records, inspection reports, and compliance documentation accurately.
  • Working closely with colleagues across the depot to support daily operations.
  • Maintaining a safe, clean, and well‑organised workshop environment.
  • Working in line with all health, safety, and compliance requirements.
  • Supporting Speedy’s ESG Strategy – Decade to Deliver, helping us operate safely, responsibly, and sustainably.

What We’re Looking For

To succeed in this role, you’ll bring:



  • Previous mechanical engineering experience, ideally gained within the hire industry or a similar engineering environment.
  • Good computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • The ability to work well under pressure and as part of a team.
  • A proactive, hands‑on approach with strong attention to detail.
  • A commitment to safety, quality, and customer service.
