Trust Doctor ST3+ Cardiothoracic ST3+ position, 12 months fixed term as a Cardiothoracic Registrar. An exciting opportunity to take up a post of Trust Grade ST3+ level Doctor is required at Blackpool Victoria Hospital in the Directorate of Cardiothoracic. The post is based at the Lancashire Cardiac Centre and will offer an invaluable experience with the Cardiothoracic Surgeons who have one of the largest experience in endoscopic heart valve surgery in the UK. You will also be exposed to the full range of adult cardiac and thoracic surgery as you will work with the team responsible for the Cardiothoracic Service for the northern part of the North West Region.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work with Cardiothoracic surgeons and be exposed to pre, intra and post operative management of these patients.


The post holder will be working alongside a team comprising of 10 Consultants, 9 Registrars and 4 ST1/2 Trust Doctors. Applicants must hold full GMC Registration and MRCS or equivalent and have at least 12 months Cardiothoracic experience at ST1/2 level.

Person Specification

  • Primary medical qualification.
  • Must hold full registration with the GMC and have MRCS or equivalent.

Training
Experience

  • Minimum of 4 years' post‑graduate experience, of which at least 1 year is in Cardiothoracic surgery

Research/audit/publications

  • Evidence in participation in Audit.

Professionalism

  • Enthusiasm and commitment to the specialty

Personal skills

  • Ability to work well as a team member.
  • Possess good organisational skills.
  • Possess good verbal and written communication skills.
