BTHFT are looking to recruit an Estates Manager (Mechanical bias) to be responsible for the effective maintenance and operation of all buildings, plant and associated services in an efficient, economical and safe manner in accordance with all statutory, NHS, Trust and departmental guidelines.

Person Specification
Experience

  • Experience of operational maintenance management, engineering plant, services, equipment and development schemes
  • Experience of direct labour and staff management
  • Experience of managing a direct labour force
  • Experience of healthcare systems
  • Have at least 3 years post qualification additional relevant experience and / or corporate membership or a relevant professional institute; IET, CIBSE, IHEEM

Skills

  • Ability to lead, motivate and develop team building and encourage team interaction
  • Ability to manage change
  • Ability to meet deadlines under pressure
  • Excellent time management and decision making skills
  • Communicate and network with external bodies
  • Be a self-starter and working on own initiative
  • A flexible attitude and positive work ethic
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer care skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team or on own initiative

Knowledge

  • Knowledge and experience of appropriate procurement methods
  • Knowledge and experience of risk management
  • Knowledge and experience of Health and Safety within the built environment
  • Committed to CPD and training to fulfil the requirements and development of the post
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Office and Estates related software and databases
  • Understanding of Information Governance and Confidentiality

Qualifications

  • Educated to a minimum of Degree / professional qualification, or equivalent relevant work experience at similar level.
  • Full knowledge of statutory requirements including IET guidelines, CIBSE guides, Health & Safety, NHS Estates Guidance etc
