Reporting to: BIM/CAD Manager

We are seeking a BIM/CAD Technician with expertise in structured cabling, security systems, and audio-visual (AV) design. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years’ experience creating detailed 2D/3D drawings and BIM models for networking infrastructure, CCTV, access control, and AV systems in commercial and residential environments.

You will also have specialist skills in Wi-Fi heatmap surveys and CCTV field-of-view (FOV) design, using industry-standard tools to optimise coverage and system performance. Collaborative and detail-oriented, you will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated smart building solutions that meet project objectives and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

CAD & BIM Design

*

Prepare 2D drawings using AutoCAD.

*

Develop 3D models, 2D drawings, and COBie outputs using Revit.

*

Design structured cabling layouts, cable trays, and pathways.

*

Design security systems (CCTV, access control) and AV system integration.

*

Perform clash detection, coordination, and collaboration with project teams.

*

Support project management tasks, bids, and documentation.

*

Maintain accurate and up-to-date CAD/BIM drawings throughout project lifecycle.

Wi-Fi Heatmap Surveys

*

Conduct wireless network surveys using Ekahau software.

*

Create heatmaps and reports to optimise Wi-Fi coverage and performance.

CCTV Field of View (FOV) Design

*

Conduct FOV design optimisation using IP Video Design software.

*

Place cameras and select lenses to maximise coverage.

*

Produce supporting documentation and reports.

General Responsibilities

*

Collaborate with designers, engineers, and contractors to ensure accurate designs.

*

Integrate smart building technologies, including IoT devices and automated systems, into CAD/BIM models.

*

Review and correct CAD drawings for accuracy and adherence to standards.

*

Maintain project documentation, file management, and organisation.

*

Stay current with CAD/BIM software, industry standards, and smart building technology trends.

Skills & Competencies

*

Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit.

*

Experience in structured cabling, security, and AV system design.

*

Skilled in Wi-Fi surveying (Ekahau) and CCTV FOV design.

*

Knowledge of BIM processes and COBie outputs.

*

Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.

*

Attention to detail and accuracy in technical drawings.

*

Good organisational skills for project documentation and file management.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

*

5+ years’ experience as a BIM/CAD Technician or similar role.

*

Experience in structured cabling, security systems, and AV design.

*

Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, and industry-standard survey/design software.

Desirable:

*

Experience with smart building technologies and IoT integration.

*

Previous work in commercial or residential smart building projects
