As a result of recent contract awards MSL are looking to expand their team in 2025, as such we invite applicants to apply for a position to join our Mechanical Contracts Team within our Head Office where we provide total engineering support to our directly employed Mechanical and Electrical Installation Engineers, including:-

  • Contract Management Teams
  • Design Department
  • CAD / BIM Management Teams

At this time we are seeking to recruit a Mechanical Contracts Manager who is enthusiastic, self-motivated, a good team player but equally able to work on their own initiative.

The successful candidate should be capable of demonstrating previous successful experience of managing Mechanical projects within the range of £100,000.00 to £5,000,000.00, to be able to work under their own initiative from receipt of initial instructions to completion of the project.

Candidates should have a minimum of 10 years’ industry experience and trade qualifications to a minimum of HNC / HND level in Building Services Engineering. They should be capable of demonstrating previous successful experience on Projects up to £5.0 million, be able to work under own initiative from conception of order through to final account / defects period and be cognisant of the current contract climate. This involves having a general knowledge of contract law, administration, account development and submission.

Candidates should hold a clean driving licence and hold a current CSCS Card.

Some knowledge of a computer based Estimation package, MS project or Asta Powerproject and a good working knowledge of Excel and Word would be an advantage.

The position would be within our existing Mechanical Contracts Department.

References will be required for this position.

Outline Brief of Requirements
  • Read, understand and scrutinise contract documents, specifications and drawings.
  • Preparation of Contract Health and Safety documentation.
  • Preparation of Contract Technical submissions.
  • Preparation of Contract Technical schedules.
  • Preparation of Contract Works programmes.
  • Attendance at Client / Professional Team meetings, pre and post Contract Award.
  • Sub-Contract negotiation and appointment.
  • Liaison with MSL in-house BIM / Cad Departments.
  • Liaison with MSL and Client / Contractor Site Management teams.
  • Liaison and direction to MSL and Sub-contractor / Specialist Site teams.
  • Overseeing CDP requirements and Specialists.
  • Preparation of monthly contract reports for Director review and Client issue.
  • Preparation of monthly contract applications and account reports.
  • Preparation of variations and commercial submissions.
  • Management of appointed Project and Site Managers.
  • Health and Safety reporting and management.
  • Preparation of commissioning programmes.
  • Liaison and management of commissioning activities.
  • Client demonstration and handover.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects at any one time.
The Finer Details

The successful candidate would be primarily based / working out of our Head Office in Croydon working Monday to Friday, 09.00 – 17.30 hours, however, there will be times where you will be required to put in extra hours.

Ease of commute to our Head Office in Croydon, Surrey is a consideration as this will be the primary base and the successful candidate would not be expected to have a commute of more than 45 minutes – 1 hour.

The Employment Package
  • A starting salary between £60,000.00 & £80,000.00, subject to level of experience, with discretional performance related bonuses
  • Employee Ownership profit share distribution after 12 months service
  • Company car (or car allowance), subject to level of experience and demand
  • Holiday – 30 days per annum, including Bank Holidays
