Morson Edge is currently recruiting for experienced Aircraft Mechanical Fitters to join a leading aerospace organisation supporting the UK Military Flying Training System (Rotary Wing) team, working on the H135/H145 helicopter fleet at RAF Shawbury.


Aircraft Mechanical Fitter - RAF Shawbury

Location: RAF Shawbury, Shropshire


Contract Type: 6 month contract (likely to be extended)


Hours: 40 per week


Pay(ph): £21.05 PAYE / £28.16 Umbrella


This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in maintaining, repairing, and supporting aircraft to ensure safe and continuous operation — directly contributing to the success of the UK’s Defence Helicopter Flying School.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the movement, line, and base maintenance of the H135/H145 fleet
  • Carry out maintenance inspections and repairs under the direction of the Shift Supervisor or Certifying Engineer
  • Perform airframe, power plant, mechanical, and electrical maintenance in accordance with OEM instructions
  • Support flight operations and ensure aircraft safety and airworthiness
  • Assist with day-to-day hangar operations, aircraft movement, and housekeeping tasks
  • Conduct off-aircraft maintenance and component work in the workshop when required

Qualifications & Experience

  • Completed apprenticeship in Aircraft Maintenance or related discipline
  • Strong knowledge of airframe and engine systems
  • Experience in flight operations, line, and base maintenance

Desirable

  • Experience with H135/H145 helicopters
  • Background in military aviation
  • Familiarity with CAA Part 145 and Part M regulations
