Technical Product Manager – Sheffield

About the Role:
The Technical Product Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of the product lifecycle. This is from:

-Insights (customers, competitors, market, products)

-Analysis (product proposition, positioning, business case, risk, ROI)

-Direction (product and portfolio strategy, vision, roadmaps, pricing/margin)

Through to:

-Helping the business deliver the product (requirements, prioritisation, field trials)

-Helping the business to sell the product (marketing and sales alignment, launch, promotion, after sales support)

The Product Manager is responsible for determining the customer needs and desires and being the Voice of the Customer. You will determine the scope of current and future product lines by writing and reviewing the product specifications and requirements, managing the Product Lifecycle from inception to phase out and replacement. The Product Manager is responsible for leading cross-functional teams from the product conception all the way through to the product launch.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively maintain high level of knowledge about the industry by:

  • Visiting local and international trade shows

  • Researching industry specialists’ sites and magazines

  • Researching competitor’s product information and undertaking competitor review

  • Researching industry trends

  • Anticipating product trends

  • Anticipate and monitor new entrants to market and disruptive new technologies

  • Monitor key traditional competitors

  • Summarise, analyse and draw conclusions by using the regularly released industry specific reports.

  • Monitor and be fully up to date with latest competitor price strategy.

  • Acquire and test competitor products.

  • Propose and engage in creation of product strategy related to specific markets.

  • Coordinate new product strategy with the sales and marketing team.

  • Always think out of the box in conceiving new products.

  • Constantly maintain customer and sales focus.

  • Create completed and detailed Offering Requirement (OR) documents for new products and assist in Design Requirements and Design Specifications with R&D

  • Create and maintain the new product roadmap.

  • Work closely with the Project Managers to follow speedy product development based on the OR.

  • Work closely with marketing and sales teams to create product introduction and promotion strategies.

  • Introduce the new products and sales strategies to the local sales teams.

  • Monitor and analyse new products performance and suggest improvements if needed.

  • Collaborate with the QA teams with the focus in resolving timely design inherited issues with new and existing products.

  • Maintain EOL and product life cycle information and act respectively in future product creation.

  • Assist R&D with product approvals requirements.

  • Help in maintaining price list and regularly update such.

  • Report regularly on product performance

  • Analyse sales and product performance

  • Meeting with suppliers in searching for new products, services and technologies.

  • Visiting technology exhibitions

    Essential Requirements

    ·5+ years Product Management Experience

    ·Deep understanding of product management principles

    ·Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in communicating ideas and concepts

    ·Strategic thinker

    ·Detail orientated

    ·Ability to create reports using various computer software tools

    ·Ability to work with and influence every level of seniority with internal and external customers.

    ·Proactive in managing workload and tasks.

    ·Built trust across teams

    ·Ability to travel internationally

    ·Be a proactive problem solver

    ·The PM will be a team worker within the PM team as well as with all teams involved.

    Desirable Requirements

    ·Understanding of electronics and manufacturing

    ·Knowledge of IoT sector

    ·Technical background

    ·Prior use of Jira, UX and UI design tools such as Adobe XD, Use of PLM software
