Specialist Paediatric Physiotherapist

An exciting role has arisen for an enthusiastic and skilled paediatric physiotherapist to join our specialist therapy team at Hobbs Rehabilitation at Chedington. Chedington is Hobbs’ new state-of-the-art site, growing rapidly to expand our multidisciplinary team and offer exceptional rehabilitation to more clients. The role includes access to neurotechnology equipment, such as the Lokomat robotic gait trainer for children, and immersive therapy experiences (e.g., paddleboarding, rock climbing, bushcraft, cookery, and art-based sessions) alongside traditional physiotherapy, aquatic therapy, and land-based sessions.

• Be an autonomous physiotherapy practitioner with high standards of assessment and clinical skills, including postural management, specialist handling techniques, exercise, and hydrotherapy.
• Provide one-to-one and group physiotherapy interventions for patients with acquired physical and learning impairments, using evidence-informed practice.
• Practice safely within legal and ethical boundaries of the profession.
• Use effective communication with children, young people, and families to understand expectations and develop patient-centered goals.
• Evaluate patient progress using published outcome measures and maintain up-to-date clinical notes.
• Produce high-quality clinical reports and recommendations for clinical provision, such as EHCPs and case-managed clients.
• Work within a multi-disciplinary team, communicating with families, educational and health professionals.
• Attend and contribute to multi-professional and family meetings (face-to-face or via video).
• Liaise with the Hobbs MDT and wider care team; develop local and Hobbs-wide clinical pathways to integrate paediatric neurotechnology into rehab services.
• Potential to undertake or be involved in clinical trials with support from the MiNT team.
• Provide input to local training and actively participate in Hobbs training and education programs.
• Support the wider Hobbs team and provide physiotherapy cover at other sites if required.

Hobbs Rehabilitation was established in 2005 by neuro physiotherapists Helen Hobbs and Nicky Ellis and has expanded to 11 locations, offering specialised inpatient and outpatient neurological rehabilitation for adults and children. The interdisciplinary team includes OT, PT, SLT and Psychology, aiming to place the individual at the centre of care.

Essential

• Recognised Physiotherapy degree or equivalent.
• HCPC registration.
• Member of the CSP.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience as a paediatric physiotherapist with knowledge of neurological, neuromuscular, and developmental conditions in children (0-18).
• Interest in neurotechnology and its integration into intensive, evidence-based rehab.
• Excellent organisational, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Experience as an integrated member of a multidisciplinary team.
• Understanding of UK child safeguarding policy and its application.
• Full driving licence and willingness to travel for training, meetings, and community visits.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing service needs; commitment to continuous professional development (CPD).
• Evidence of CPD and a proactive approach to learning and mentoring.

Desirable

• Experience with Bobath principles.
• Interest or involvement in research (service development projects or audits).
• Experience of working with adults with neurological conditions or spinal cord injury.
• Experience with neurotechnology and teaching others (in-house training programs).
• Strong IT skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Drives) and presentation skills.
