  • Assess J‑tubes, bell mouths, clamps, bend restrictors, and cable interface structures.
  • Review cable protection systems (CPS) and identify exposure, damage mechanisms, and structural vulnerabilities.

Mechanical Systems Integrity

  • Provide integrity oversight for HVAC systems, cranes, davits, mechanical handling systems, fire systems, and auxiliary plant.
  • Review mechanical degradation, corrosion mechanisms, coating failures, and fatigue‑related defects; define remediation.
  • Support compliance with LOLER, PUWER, COSHH, DSEAR.
  • Ensure compliance with DNV and ISO standards relevant to offshore structures (e.g., DNVGL ST Codes), API RP 2A for fixed platforms where applicable, BS EN standards for cranes and mechanical systems, ISO 9001/14001/45001, ISO 55000 asset management.

Inspection, Assurance & O&M Engineering Support

  • Define and review inspection scopes, work packs, and offshore execution methodologies.
  • Interpret inspection findings, classify defects, and define remediation strategies with costed options.
  • Maintain integrity documentation, inspection records, certificates, and asset registers.
  • Provide engineering input to outage planning, access strategies, and operational risk reviews.

Engineering Assurance & Continuous Improvement

  • Contribute to condition assessments, root cause analyses, and integrity risk evaluations.
  • Develop corrosion management strategies and optimise inspection intervals.
  • Support structural upgrades, modifications, CPS improvements, offshore engineering consultancy, and asset life‑extension studies.
  • Provide specialist input to offshore wind, interconnector, and marine infrastructure projects.

Interfaces and Collaboration

  • Work with Operations, Blades, HV Services and Cables, and OFTO Operations teams.
  • Liaise with OEMs, classification societies, and specialist contractors.

Authority and Decision Rights

  • Approve inspection strategies, assessment methodologies, and remediation recommendations.
  • Define integrity risk rankings and intervention priorities; provide engineering sign‑off to Asset Managers.

Qualifications

  • Degree qualified in Structural or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards is preferred.
  • Lifting knowledge aligned to LEEA guidance; relevant NDT qualifications desirable.
  • Extensive experience with offshore platforms, offshore wind substations, or marine structures.
  • Strong understanding of corrosion protection, structural assessment and mechanical systems – including pressurised systems, HVAC, lifting equipment, and rotating machinery.
  • Familiarity with FEA and structural modelling tools (e.g., ANSYS, ABAQUS, SESAM) is desirable.
  • Experienced in interpreting ROV data, bathymetric surveys, and subsea structural interface inspection datasets.
  • Familiarity with offshore standards, integrity management frameworks, and risk‑based methodologies.
  • GWO certifications and Offshore Medical (or willingness to obtain) for offshore access (if desired).

Why Join Us?

  • Competitive benefits tailored to the division.
  • Opportunities for career growth and visibility across the organisation.
  • A supportive, inclusive culture that values your ideas and contributions.
  • Work that truly makes a difference in safety, innovation, and global capability.

New Edge Computing Employers to Watch in 2026: UK and Global Companies Shaping Edge Innovation

Edge computing is transforming how data is processed by bringing compute power closer to the source of generation. With the proliferation of Internet of Things (IoT), real‑time analytics, autonomous systems, and latency‑sensitive applications, edge computing has moved from a niche discipline to a core component of digital infrastructure. In 2026, organisations that specialise in or heavily invest in edge computing are expanding their teams to build distributed systems, real‑time analytics platforms, and edge‑optimised AI. For professionals exploring opportunities on www.EdgeComputingJobs.co.uk , understanding which employers are growing, winning contracts, or securing investment is essential. This article highlights the new and high‑growth edge computing employers to watch in 2026, including UK startups, international innovators with a UK presence, and established companies shifting strategy toward edge.

How Many Edge Computing Tools Do You Need to Know to Get an Edge Computing Job?

If you’re trying to start or grow a career in edge computing, it can feel like you’re navigating a maze of tools, frameworks and platforms — Kubernetes, Docker, IoT frameworks, AWS Greengrass, Azure IoT Edge, OpenShift, TinyML toolkits, networking orchestration, real-time streaming frameworks, and on it goes. Scroll job boards and community forums and it’s easy to conclude that unless you master every buzzword imaginable, you’ll never get a job. Here’s the honest truth most edge computing hiring managers won’t necessarily say out loud: 👉 They don’t hire you because you know every edge computing tool — they hire you because you can solve real system problems using the tools you know. Tools matter, yes — but only when they support clear outcomes: reliable systems, performance at scale, secure edge deployments and real business value. So how many edge computing tools do you actually need to know to secure a job? For most edge computing roles, the answer is fewer than you think — and a lot clearer when sorted by fundamentals and roles. This guide shows you what matters, what doesn’t, and how to focus your time wisely so you come across as capable, confident and employable.

What Hiring Managers Look for First in Edge Computing Job Applications (UK Guide)

In today’s fast-evolving tech landscape, edge computing is one of the most sought-after fields — blending distributed systems, embedded systems, networking, cloud, IoT, data and real-time processing. But that also means hiring managers are highly selective. They scan applications fast and look for signals of relevance, impact, technical depth and real-world delivery long before they read every line. This guide demystifies what hiring managers in edge computing look for first in your application — so you can tailor your CV, portfolio and cover letter to jump out of the stack. Whether you’re targeting edge systems roles, embedded IoT edge jobs, edge-native data roles, edge platform engineering or edge-AI positions, this checklist will help you position your experience in a way hiring managers can trust immediately.
