Senior Physiotherapist – Burn & Plastics and Hand Therapy

We are looking for an enthusiastic Band 6 Physiotherapist to join our Burns & Plastics and Hand Therapy team at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, Bucks healthcare NHS Trust.


Our Burns and Plastics team :



  • Burns & Plastics -Based at Stoke Mandeville Hospital
  • Has national network links for Teaching , training & development
  • Complex hand treatment / hand therapy
  • Physiotherapists work closely with Occupational Therapist in the hand Therapy clinic

This role will suit someone who is motivated, flexible and hard-working, and keen to support patients to achieve their potential in rehabilitation. There is a strong emphasis on staff development with support from Band 7 team leads .


The post involves weekend working as part of the therapy weekend service.


Main duties of the job

To perform assessment and treatment for patients with complex needs, and to provide advice, guidance and information to health and social care professionals, carers and relatives and other non-professionals.


To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner.


To participate in continuing professional and service development, and contribute to organisational objectives.

Person Specification
EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING

  • Current registration with Health Professions Council
  • Diploma /Degree in Physiotherapy
  • Evidence of CPD in the form of a detailed personal development portfolio
  • MCSP Membership
  • Specific formal courses appropriate to post speciality
  • Membership of professional special interest group
  • Field work/clinical educators course

EXPERIENCE

  • Experience of at least 18 months in a junior rotational Physiotherapy post
  • Previous experience in core physiotherapy specialties including acute in patient care, respiratory, Musculoskeletal and neurology
  • Experience of managing own caseload and prioritising
  • Evidence of commitment to continuing professional development, and reflective practice
  • Knowledge and application of evidence based practice and clinical reasoning
  • Experience of on-call and weekend working in an acute NHS Hospital
  • Demonstration of having initiated change of practice or process
  • Experience in supervision of students and junior staff
  • Participation in audit and research and development activities
  • Experience of undertaking Senior (Band 6) role

SKILLS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE

  • Clear, concise verbal and written communication to ensure liaison with multi disciplinary team, patients and carers to ensure records and reports are accurate, legal and in legible manner (in English)

SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES

  • Ability to participate in on call / emergency working rota
  • Full UK Driving Licence
