The MSK Physiotherapy service provides outpatient MSK services across Kent. We operate within four teams covering North Kent, Ashford, Canterbury and Thanet, South Kent Coast and West Kent. We are recruiting for posts in:
• North Kent team working between Gravesham Community Hospital and Sheppey Community Hospital
• West Kent team working between Churchill Centre (Aylesford), Sevenoaks Hospital and Tonbridge Cottage Hospital.
We provide outpatient MSK Physiotherapy services to the residents of our local area. Working closely with other teams, we form part of the Integrated Musculoskeletal (IMSK) service that incorporates the Community Orthopaedic and First Contact Practitioner team and the Community Chronic Pain team.


Travel across trust sites is required; you will need a UK driving licence and access to a vehicle per the Equality Act 2010.


Although full‑time hours are preferred, part‑time hours may be considered for a minimum of 30 hours over 4 days. If you cannot attend a face‑to‑face interview, please state this in your supporting information.


Main duties of the job

To manage a complex caseload of patients and maintain appropriate records under the supervision of a clinical lead physiotherapist. To develop and maintain a good level of skill and knowledge in MSK Physiotherapy. To provide supervision and development of physiotherapy students, apprentices, assistants, Band 5s and peers. They will be expected to be involved in some service development projects. To be actively involved in running and future service development of patient group sessions such as the Back Rehabilitation Class, ESCAPE knee class, shoulder class and Pilates. The successful candidate will need to be flexible, embrace change and innovation, work well under pressure and be able to work both autonomously and as part of a team.

Person Specification
Experience

  • Previous experience working as Band 5/6 within Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy;
  • Practical experience in managing health‑related projects/complex caseloads;
  • Experience leading exercise and education group sessions;
  • Current or previous NHS experience;
  • Supporting others (mentor/educator/supervisor) experience;

Knowledge

  • Wide‑ranging knowledge in MSK Physiotherapy;
  • Understanding of National Service Frameworks and NICE guidance relevant to the care setting and its application across health care services;
  • Knowledge of up‑to‑date clinical practice and current issues relating to the profession;
  • Knowledge of the NHS and the structure, roles and responsibilities of outside agencies, e.g. Social Services;

Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to manage time effectively, prioritise and work under pressure to meet deadlines;
  • Ability to communicate complex, sensitive information to individuals and groups;
  • Exercise prescription and manual handling skills;
  • Good level of written and oral communication skills and documentation skills;
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality;

Ability to Manage

  • Motivate and organise others to ensure best practice;
  • Support service leads to manage and deliver change;
  • Support the implementation of local and national agenda for health under guidance of service leads;
  • Prioritise care delivery in a professional manner, considering Trust policies and procedures;
  • Travel between sites as the service demands;

Qualifications

  • Degree or Diploma in Physiotherapy;
  • Professional Registration with the Health Professions Council;
