An opportunity has arisen for a full time Band 6 Musculoskeletal physiotherapist to join the Whipps Cross Therapies team within Barts Health NHS Trust. The post holder will be a qualified Physiotherapist with experience in MSK. They should be HCPC registered, and ideally would have completed an Orthopaedic inpatient rotation. They should have excellent baseline knowledge of musculoskeletal physiotherapy principles and experience of treating a variety of peripheral and spinal patients. Assessments and treatments will be through face to face and virtual appointments. Evidence of involvement in project management and audit will be desirable.

Job Description & Responsibilities

The post holder will join the Barts Health band 6 musculoskeletal rotations based at Whipps Cross Hospital and its community sites. They will work with Orthopaedic, Rheumatology and Community Pain clinics. They will have supervisory responsibility for a Band 5 physiotherapist and students, providing appraisals, teaching and clinical support while managing a demanding caseload. They will have roles linked to Band 7 line managers to facilitate managerial and leadership qualities, such as GP liaison, education and Musculoskeletal Audit champion. The department provides an evidence-based in-service training program and runs external courses with free places allocated. The MSK Therapies team has a strong Band 8 leadership team including APPs and FCPs to support delivery of high-quality patient care.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • Diploma/Degree in Physiotherapy
  • HCPC registration (British)
  • 18 months post-graduate experience with at least 8 months in relevant MSK outpatient and orthopaedic settings
  • Appropriate post-registration experience
  • Documented evidence of CPD per HCPC recommendations
  • Experience working as part of a uni-/multi-professional team
  • Experience supervising and supporting junior staff and students

Desirable

  • Experience of audit/research

Skills
  • Good knowledge of current best practice in physiotherapy for MSK settings
  • Specialist clinical skills in musculoskeletal outpatients
  • Risk management understanding and application
  • Knowledge of professional ethics and legal responsibilities
  • Ability to organise and prioritise own and junior staff workload
  • Ability to work autonomously and support others
  • Clinical governance involvement
  • Knowledge of national policies relevant to the client group
  • Flexibility and reliability; contribute to inpatient weekend rota
  • Maintain respiratory competency for on-call duties
