SENIOR PHYSIOTHERAPIST - MUSCULOSKELETAL OUT PATIENTS. BAND 6- FULL TIME ( job share considered )


A developmental role from Band 5 to Band 6 will also be available to any appropriate applicants.


An opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Physiotherapist to join the MSK Out-Patient Physiotherapy team based within our integrated MSK Service. The post will be based in the The New QE2 Hospital in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire but will also include rotations in our various community musculoskeletal out-reach clinics in East and North Hertfordshire.


You will be part of Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust's multi-disciplinary Musculoskeletal Service supported by our team of Senior Clinicians and will be expected to provide highly specialist assessment, diagnosis and treatment to outpatients with complex needs and to provide expert advice, guidance and information to other professionals, carers and relatives and other non-professionals.


You must hold a full valid driving license and access to a car to use regularly for business purposes is essential (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010).


Job responsibilities

  • To provide specialist assessment, clinical diagnosis and treatment to patients with complex needs and to provide expert advice, guidance and information to other professionals, carers and relatives and other non-professionals.
  • To provide physiotherapy treatment at Physiotherapy Outpatient department and musculoskeletal community outreach clinics in East and North Hertfordshire.

Person Specification

Qualifications and Training (Essential)



  • Valid Health Professions Council registration.
  • Physiotherapy degree qualification or equivalent.

Experience and Knowledge (Essential)



  • Previous experience of working within MSK.
  • Attendance at post graduate courses in MSK.
  • Documented evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
  • Development of expanded, specialist skills.

Skills and Abilities (Essential)



  • Ability to communicate effectively and confidently with colleagues, other disciplines, patients, relatives and carers.
  • Developed ability to assess patient conditions, establish a diagnosis and formulate and deliver a treatment plan using a range of modalities.
  • Developed clinical problem solving ability.

  • Contributes to a culture where the safe care of patients is the primary concern.
  • Involves patients in decision making around their care and treatment planning.
