Here is an exciting opportunity for a Nurse Specialist – Cardiothoracic Surgery.


You will be covering cardiac and thoracic surgery and managing the virtual ward. Working alongside the cardiac and thoracic surgeons to optimise patients on the elective and emergency pathway. Pre assessment of patients pre surgery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertaking Pre assessment
  • Managing patients on the virtual ward
  • Undertaking assessment of suitability for surgery
  • Supporting the surgeons
  • Supporting the patients through the surgical pathway
  • Direct management of patient problems in collaboration and consultation with the Senior cardiothoracic and anaesthetic Team
  • Facilitating patient discharge and reducing length of stay by providing expert clinical advice and leadership in the cardiothoracic surgical setting
  • Initiate and participate in research/audit, development of policies and procedures
  • Clinical supervision of junior multi-disciplinary team members
  • Specialist teaching within the department/location
