Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute hospital provider in the Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System (ICS), which is a system of health and care partners working together for our local population.

Job overview

The multi-disciplinary cardiac rehabilitation team are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Physiotherapist to join our cardiac rehabilitation team, based in the world-renowned Essex Cardiothoracic Centre. The cardiac rehabilitation team have wide ranging clinical experience, good communication and interpersonal skills and a passion for delivering high quality patient-centred care.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant should be able to facilitate all phases of the Cardiac Rehabilitation process. This will include:



  • Education and support of patients prior to their discharge and the completion of referral forms to local cardiac rehabilitation centre
  • Assessing and advising patients following cardiac events and surgery, including assessment of risk factors and appropriate advice on lifestyle change and provision of information or any test or treatments that are planned
  • Providing a high quality and holistic service to patients undertaking cardiac rehabilitation, whether engaging in-person or remotely - including live virtual services
  • Using specialised assessment, risk stratification and exercise prescription skills to provide advice on lifestyle changes and motivational counselling appropriate to each individual
  • Working closely with the wider cardiac rehabilitation team of nurses and other members of the MDT.
  • Providing senior support to staff as required within Mid & South Essex NHS Foundation Trust.

  • Relevant specialist interest group membership

Managerial
Essential criteria

  • Evidence of supervision of staff or students

knowledge and skills
Essential criteria

  • Experience of working in cardiac rehabilitation service
  • Experience in prescribing individualised exercise plans

Desirable criteria

  • Experience of working within cardiology or cardiothoracics
