Role Overview

Major UK programmes such as Apache, Chinook, C-17, P-8A and E7 Wedgetail are supported by Boeing Defence UK (BDUK) Ltd, a subsidiary of The Boeing Company. The Technician will be part of a Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO) team supporting key programmes, ensuring process adherence, accurate work recording and contractual/regulatory compliance.


Responsibilities

  • Conduct assigned maintenance tasks, interpreting technical information and ensuring work is completed in accordance with Approved Technical Data and in line with authorisations.
  • Perform aircraft maintenance activities, meeting schedule milestones, controlling workloads, and ensuring high‑quality work standards.
  • Deliver maintenance under Boeing’s MAA MRP Part 145 approval or under MOD customer approval.
  • Carry out assembly, disassembly, modification or repair of aircraft systems, structures, and components, upgrading aerospace components as required.
  • Troubleshoot complex aircraft systems—pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical/electronic—to isolate faults and repair components per authorised maintenance documents.
  • Be flexible with work locations and times to deliver aircraft on schedule.
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to peers in the team.
  • Escalate risks, issues and shortfalls promptly, including stop‑work decisions.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement workshops and projects.
  • If directed, exercise 100% oversight of work carried out by Boeing apprentices or trainees and provide mentorship.
  • Contribute positively to Boeing’s open reporting culture.

Preferred Skills

  • Excellent communication skills, ability to sequence technical work and manage demanding workloads to high standards.
  • Ability to interpret technical documents, drawings and publications.
  • Working knowledge of MAA Regulatory Articles (RA), MAA Regulatory Publication (MRP) Part 145, aviation QA, and SMS, and application of these requirements in their area of responsibility.

Preferred Qualifications/Experience

  • Recognised relevant trade apprenticeship or training equivalent.
  • Knowledge of general aircraft maintenance processes (Human Factors, FOD control, tool control, health & safety, COSHH).
  • Experience in commercial or defence environments considered an advantage.
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Effective team member.
