ARE YOU THE PERSON WE ARE LOOKING FOR?

The Mechatronics & Vision Business Development Consultant will be responsible for proactively identifying new business opportunities as well as supporting the UK sales teams. The role involves identifying and developing opportunities for Mechatronics and Vision solutions, working closely with business development and regional sales teams, engaging franchise partners, and delivering technical support and guidance to both internal and external stakeholders.


Responsibilities:

  • Driving Mechatronics & Vision sales by generating new opportunities through engagement with sales teams, franchise partners, or proactive research
  • Overall ownership of Routeco Mechatronics & Vision solution numbers in their sales region
  • Developing and working with Routeco sales teams on all Mechatronics & Vision opportunities
  • Maintaining and continually updating Routeco business units on current Mechatronics & Vision solutions
  • Ensuring desired sales and profitability levels are achieved in line with company goals
  • Sharing and updating project information across vertical teams to maximize Routeco opportunities in accounts
  • Following up on sales leads generated within their sales area and product scope
  • Working with partnered SI community to enable them and ensure they follow the SI MOU to maximize business through Routeco
  • Promoting day‑to‑day activities of Mechatronics, ICT, Vision, and third‑party franchise partner products
  • Converting new business development opportunities and priority target accounts
  • Offering training, advice, and assistance to local sales areas and service centers
  • Attending joint customer visits with Routeco Sales Teams and franchise partners
  • Demonstrating effective territory planning and use of external and internal sales resources to maximize customer contact
  • Planning, implementing, and achieving agreed targets for the Routeco Mechatronics & Vision business
  • Supporting Regional Sales team in developing the commercial acumen and skills required to deliver against the Mechatronics & Vision solution offering
  • Building and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Liaising with Regional Sales Managers, OEM Solutions, End User Consultants, and Account Managers to ensure a collaborative approach
  • Ensuring adherence to sales disciplines by maintaining accurate and up‑to‑date records in the Dynamics 365 CRM
  • Monthly reporting of activity and engagement along with opportunities in line with expectations

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO BRING TO ROUTECO?

  • A good standard of education, particularly in Maths & English
  • Business development skills to generate new opportunities and follow through to completion
  • Persistence and flexibility to see a job through to conclusion
  • Experience in mechatronics and Independent Cart Technology
  • Ability to make favourable impressions on others
  • Ability to work under pressure and exhibit awareness of commercial conditions
  • Experience in a similar product support/customer service environment is preferable
  • HNC/HND in electrical engineering (or equivalent electrical engineering qualification) would be advantageous
  • Extensive knowledge of Automation, Control, and architecture would be advantageous
  • Ability to provide practical solutions, solve problems, and look for continuous improvements
  • Ability to sell the benefits of the proposal to the customer
  • Influencing and motivational skills are critical requirements for the role
  • Good day‑to‑day planning capabilities to achieve performance goals
  • Ability to stand up to assertive challenges from others
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work comfortably at director level
