About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a senior mechatronic engineer to join our existing Engineering team. You will be working on the development of new robotic prosthetic products within a multidisciplinary team. You will be involved in all steps of product development up to the point of technical file transfer to production – including ideation, prototyping, testing and documentation. You will at times work alongside other departments to make sure that their requirements are taken into account, and will occasionally contribute to ongoing product maintenance and continual improvement.


Your Duties and Responsibilities

  • Research and ideation for new products
  • Lead on mechanical and electronic product specifications
  • Mechanical and electronic design of new products
  • Mechanical and electronic risk assessment
  • Own electronic design data revision control processes and systems
  • Work within mechanical design data revision control systems
  • Maintain appropriate standards for mechanical and electronic design documentation, contributing to product compliance
  • Work with external partners where necessary, including contributing to briefs and recruitment
  • Support colleagues in improving their mechanical and electronic skills and knowledge

Essential

Qualifications must meet the following criteria



  • 5+ years’ experience of design including mechanical and electronic disciplines
  • Experience of mechatronics – integrated mechanical and electronic systems
  • Comfortable collaborating with electronic and software engineers
  • Comfortable working within a regulated industry, spending time documenting your own work and reviewing that of others
  • A thoughtful communicator who is happy being the only expert in the room and can present their work to non-expert audiences
  • Able to manage a version control system
  • Experience specifying and selecting off‑shelf components
  • Experience of risk management processes

Preferred Experience

We would love to hear about any experience you have in the following areas – it is non‑essential but do mention any of the following in your cover letter:



  • Medical devices or another regulated product field
  • Experience developing test fixtures
  • Knowledge of robotics and control theory
  • Setting briefs for contractors/consultants
  • Knowledge and use of test equipment e.g. universal tester
  • Python programming
