Location: Gilford, BT63 6EG

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Plant Fitter to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will maintain, repair, and ensure the efficient operation of all mechanical equipment and machinery used in the production of pallets. You will play a key role in minimizing downtime and ensuring that plant equipment runs safely and efficiently.

Key Duties

  • Carry out preventative and reactive maintenance on plant machinery, including saws, conveyors, nail guns, pallet assembly lines, and hydraulic systems
  • Diagnose mechanical faults and perform timely repairs to minimize production downtime
  • Install new machinery and mechanical systems, including alignment, calibration, and testing
  • Perform routine inspections of mechanical systems to identify issues early
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and service reports
  • Coordinate with the production team to schedule maintenance during non-peak hours
  • Comply with all health, safety, and environmental regulations
  • Ensure tools and workshop equipment are maintained in good working order
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize equipment efficiency
  • Assist in sourcing spare parts and liaise with suppliers as necessary
  • Support team members and assist in training apprentices or new staff when needed

Qualifications And Skills

  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Fitting, or a related discipline
  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter in an industrial or manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and basic welding
  • Ability to read technical drawings and machine manuals
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Flexible approach to working hours, including occasional weekend or shift work if required
  • Forklift license (desirable)

  • Pay: £32,000 - £36,000 per year
