Ensure Safe, Compliant and High-Quality Homes Across West and North Norfolk
We're looking for a Mechanical & Electrical Manager to join our Home & Community Maintenance team at Freebridge Community Housing. In this pivotal role, you'll lead the delivery of heating, electrical and wider M&E compliance programmes across our housing stock, ensuring services are safe, efficient and delivered to the highest standards.

Our Freebridge Community Housing goal is to provide affordable, safe, and quality homes for current and future generations, for those who need a place to call home. Freebridge was set up in 2006, to receive the transfer of the Borough Council of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk’s housing stock. We now have over 7500 properties across west and north Norfolk, in addition to building new homes for social and affordable rent, and to support those who want to move into shared home ownership. We’ve had numerous achievements, including delivering our tenants' promises and bringing homes to the Decent Homes Standard, affording our customers a much better quality of living. What you’ll be doing:

  • Lead mechanical and electrical servicing, maintenance and compliance programmes, including gas, oil, heat pumps and electrical testing.
  • Oversee contractor performance to ensure compliance with legislation, schedules and quality standards.
  • Carry out pre- and post-inspections of M&E works to ensure safe and compliant delivery.
  • Monitor budgets and support value-for-money decision making.
  • Ensure accurate compliance records, certification and performance reporting.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams, auditors and external stakeholders.
  • Respond to customer enquiries and support delivery of a high-quality, customer-focused service.
  • Support mobilisation and procurement of new contracts.

What we’re looking for:
Essential:

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical compliance requirements.
  • Experience managing heating and electrical programmes within social housing.
  • Strong contract management and contractor oversight skills.
  • Ability to interpret and explain technical data clearly.
  • Excellent organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
  • BS7671 18th Edition certification required.
  • NEBOSH or IOSH knowledge ideally with certification.

Desirable:

  • HNC in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or related field preferred.
