Level 3 Advanced Apprentice Manufacturing: Mechatronics Maintenance Technician – West Midlands

LOCATION: Solihull Plant and Logistics Operations Centre (LOC), Solihull


Hourly working conditions: Due to the hands‑on nature of this role, hybrid working is not feasible. You will be required to work on-site across multiple departments and locations.


What to Expect

During the apprenticeship you will rotate through seasonal training and real‑world projects. Your typical timetable at the training provider will be 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday–Thursday, with reduced hours on Fridays.



  • Year 1 – Foundation Phase: Build foundational engineering knowledge and workplace safety skills; practise welding, electrical installation, milling and fault‑finding in workshops. Apply skills during plant placements and study for a Level 3 BTEC qualification.
  • Year 2 – Academic Knowledge & Skills Development: Split time between the workplace and block release at the training provider while continuing the BTEC qualification and applying academic knowledge onsite.
  • Year 3 – Competence Development: Advance skills in plant operations, working on real‑world projects at JLR while progressing the BTEC qualification.
  • Year 4 – Final Year & End Point Assessment (EPA): Complete apprenticeship and prepare for the EPA, supported by your Early Careers Cohort Leader and Industrial Training Manager.

What’s Required

  • Achievement or track‑to‑achievement of GCSE Maths and English Language at level 4 (C) or above.
  • Three additional GCSEs at level 4 (C) or higher, including one STEM subject.
  • Alternatively, an Engineering vocational qualification at level 3/90 credits/540 GLH or higher.
  • Interest in manufacturing and a passion for helping JLR deliver next‑generation products.
