The Company

Based in Marchwood, Southampton, Stanelco RF Technologies (Stanelco) is a division of Biome Technologies plc.

Stanelcos small, multidisciplinary team specialises in the design and manufacture of bespoke engineering solutions for a wide range of industries utilising induction heating and dielectric welding systems.

With a strong focus on high-frequency RF technologies, projects typically range from £50k to £500k+ and include RF heating systems, electrical and electronic control systems, and integrated mechanical handling solutions for the Medical, Industrial and Nuclear sectors. Delivery timelines vary from 3 to 12 months, covering the full process from project acquisition through to commissioning and compliance.

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Engineering, the successful candidate will operate as a key member of a multi-disciplinary engineering team, with technical ownership of the mechanical design and development of complex industrial process equipment, from concept through to manufacture, installation, and commissioning. The role includes exposure to electromechanical systems, thermal and dielectric processing, and bespoke machinery.

You will own the mechanical design process and CAD system (Solid Edge), including standards, best practices, and design release.

Candidate Profile

Given the size and nature of the business, this role offers some flexibility and can be tailored to the skills and experience of the successful candidate. We welcome applications from experienced Senior / Lead Engineers who can provide authoritative leadership across mechanical design, safety, and compliance.

Ideally, you will be educated to degree level (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering and have several years demonstrable experience in the development and integration of industrial machinery or bespoke process equipment. You will be a natural problem-solver, comfortable operating in a hands-on, project-driven engineering environment.

Key Design Responsibilities

Design of bespoke machinery, translating customer and product requirements into robust mechanical designs that meet performance, safety, and regulatory expectations.

Design and integrate appropriate material handling systems, including part loading/unloading, fixturing, alignment, and operator interaction.

Work closely with the Head of Engineering and the Electrical Engineering team to ensure correct mechanical integration of RF generators and electrical components.

Technical Skills & Experience

Strong proficiency in 3D CAD and 2D drawing production and part management using Solid Edge (SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo, or similar).

Experience designing and integrating dielectric (RF) heating and welding systems or closely related thermal or high-voltage process equipment.

The design of sheet metal components and assemblies including frames, enclosures, panels, guards, and structural elements.

Experience designing mechanical aspects of electronic packaging, including enclosures, mounting, and thermal considerations.

Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, tolerancing, and DFM/DFA principles.

Design of systems requiring hydraulics and pneumatics.

Design of conveyor/material handling systems.

Selection and integration of motors, gearboxes, and drive systems including stepper and servo motors.

Experience working with third-party suppliers, contract manufacturers, and external vendors.

Additional Skills & Experience (Advantageous)

Experience acting as a technical lead or design authority.

Exposure to on-site installation, commissioning, and fault-finding.

Familiarity with machinery safety standards and compliance requirements such as CE and UKCA.

Experience managing supplier technical queries, design changes, and quality issues.

Documentation, Compliance and Quality

Generate and approve technical documentation including detailed drawings, BOMs, design calculations, tolerance analysis, and risk assessments.

Ensure designs comply with relevant machinery safety standards and internal engineering processes.

Support compliance activities including CE and UKCA marking.

The Opportunity

This is a rare opportunity to play a critical technical role within a highly specialised engineering company with a global reach, influencing technical direction, product safety and compliance, and long-term engineering capability while working on challenging, bespoke solutions.

Compensation & Benefits

A competitive base salary, commensurate with experience, plus an attractive benefits package.

New Edge Computing Employers to Watch in 2026: UK and Global Companies Shaping Edge Innovation

Edge computing is transforming how data is processed by bringing compute power closer to the source of generation. With the proliferation of Internet of Things (IoT), real‑time analytics, autonomous systems, and latency‑sensitive applications, edge computing has moved from a niche discipline to a core component of digital infrastructure. In 2026, organisations that specialise in or heavily invest in edge computing are expanding their teams to build distributed systems, real‑time analytics platforms, and edge‑optimised AI. For professionals exploring opportunities on www.EdgeComputingJobs.co.uk , understanding which employers are growing, winning contracts, or securing investment is essential. This article highlights the new and high‑growth edge computing employers to watch in 2026, including UK startups, international innovators with a UK presence, and established companies shifting strategy toward edge.

How Many Edge Computing Tools Do You Need to Know to Get an Edge Computing Job?

If you’re trying to start or grow a career in edge computing, it can feel like you’re navigating a maze of tools, frameworks and platforms — Kubernetes, Docker, IoT frameworks, AWS Greengrass, Azure IoT Edge, OpenShift, TinyML toolkits, networking orchestration, real-time streaming frameworks, and on it goes. Scroll job boards and community forums and it’s easy to conclude that unless you master every buzzword imaginable, you’ll never get a job. Here’s the honest truth most edge computing hiring managers won’t necessarily say out loud: 👉 They don’t hire you because you know every edge computing tool — they hire you because you can solve real system problems using the tools you know. Tools matter, yes — but only when they support clear outcomes: reliable systems, performance at scale, secure edge deployments and real business value. So how many edge computing tools do you actually need to know to secure a job? For most edge computing roles, the answer is fewer than you think — and a lot clearer when sorted by fundamentals and roles. This guide shows you what matters, what doesn’t, and how to focus your time wisely so you come across as capable, confident and employable.

What Hiring Managers Look for First in Edge Computing Job Applications (UK Guide)

In today’s fast-evolving tech landscape, edge computing is one of the most sought-after fields — blending distributed systems, embedded systems, networking, cloud, IoT, data and real-time processing. But that also means hiring managers are highly selective. They scan applications fast and look for signals of relevance, impact, technical depth and real-world delivery long before they read every line. This guide demystifies what hiring managers in edge computing look for first in your application — so you can tailor your CV, portfolio and cover letter to jump out of the stack. Whether you’re targeting edge systems roles, embedded IoT edge jobs, edge-native data roles, edge platform engineering or edge-AI positions, this checklist will help you position your experience in a way hiring managers can trust immediately.
