Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist - Rheumatology

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist within the Outpatient Rheumatology team.


This role will predominantly focus on providing clinical and non-clinical leadership and expert knowledge of Rheumatology for the Physiotherapy team delivering Outpatient Therapy services.


Experience in Rheumatology and leadership is essential.


This post is not suitable for Students, or those awaiting HCPC registration.

Main duties of the job

To act as a clinical specialist responsible for the assessment and treatment and education of patient referred with Rheumatologic conditions, so contributing to determining clinical diagnosis and overall case management.


To work as part of the wider multi-disciplinary team to access and act upon relevant diagnostic tests and make relevant onward recommendations as necessary.


To act as lead clinician within specialist area supporting the operational delivery, planning, co-ordination, and evaluation of the Physiotherapy service provided for patients with Rheumatologic conditions including service development initiatives.

Person Specification
Qualifications

  • HCPC registration
  • Attendance at degree level post graduate courses relevant to the specialist area or working towards this or be prepared to study at this level

Knowledge

  • Post registration knowledge which is relevant to specialist area evidenced by CPD
  • Knowledge of recent NHS legislation, recommendations for specialist area
  • Awareness of the national and local priorities and changing trends in specialist area
  • Completion of relevant MSK (Musculoskeletal) competencies
  • Knowledge of the service / trust values & objectives

Skills

  • Ability to lead junior colleagues
  • Advanced communication and listening skills
  • Ability to make appropriate decisions at all levelsAudit skills
  • Ability to prioritise workload, achieving a balance between clinical and other aspects of role
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of team

Experience

  • Prior experience working in the NHS - with a broad range of NHS rotations
  • Proven post registration experience, some of which is in a relevant setting / associated area
  • Experience of completing and contributing to audit / research
  • Experience of contributing to the teaching and mentoring of staff & members of the MDT (Multidisciplinary Team)

Specific Job Requirement

  • To have a specific interest and commitment to Rheumatology Physiotherapy as evidenced by CPD portfolio, post graduate training
  • To have completed junior rotations, to include MSK (Musculoskeletal) outpatients
  • Proven ability to manage complex rehabilitation issues, utilising advanced communication skills
  • oTo have knowledge and experience of a range Rheumatological conditions, including Multi-disciplinary management
