Role

  • Substantive Consultant Cardiothoracic Anaesthetist with a special interest in thoracic anaesthesia to help drive our minimally invasive thoracic surgery programme forward

  • Provide perioperative TOE services

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing evidence-based care
  • Working clinically in cardiothoracic critical care
  • Working collaboratively with a variety of colleagues as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Covering on-call across our cardiothoracic theatres, cardiac critical care and cardiology intervention services – so ideally you should live within 10 miles of Basildon Hospital, or 30 minutes travelling time
  • Developing your interests and specialisation within cardiothoracic anaesthesia, & Critical Care including active participation in research programmes

Qualifications

  • GMC registered, with FRCA (or equivalent) and specialist registration (or within 6 months of CCT)
  • Experience in cardiothoracic anaesthesia and critical care
  • Commitment to multidisciplinary teamwork, teaching, and research
  • Enthusiasm for service development and innovation
  • For the substantive post: a keen interest in thoracic anaesthesia is highly desirable

Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute hospital provider in the Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System (ICS), which is a system of health and care partners working together for our local population. Within Mid and South Essex there are 149 GP practices, operating from over 200 sites, forming 27 Primary Care Networks and one Ambulance Trust.
