Apprentice Mechanical Fitter – EGGER UK

City: Hexham (UK) Contract Type: Full-time Job Code: 6380 Department: Maintenance


Start Date: September 2026


Responsibilities

  • Produce and assemble machine parts, support commissioning, maintenance, and installation of machinery across the site.
  • Complete a 4‑year apprenticeship programme covering all tasks required for a Mechanical Maintenance team member.
  • First year: off‑site training at SETA in Washington (transport provided) to achieve an apprenticeship standard in Mechanical Engineering; 3 years on‑site with day release, opportunity to work towards an HNC qualification.

Requirements

  • Self‑motivated learner with excellent interpersonal skills; able to collaborate across departments.
  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs grade C/4 or above, including Maths, English, Science, and a GCSE in Technology or Engineering (advantageous).
  • Basic IT proficiency and competent use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong interest in mechanical principles and practice.
