Physiotherapy Practice Education Lead
Adult Acute Physiotherapy Service – Edinburgh Royal Infirmary & Western General Hospital
Band: Bd 7
Hours: 36hrs (April 2026) Part time/Full time considered
Contract: Fixed Term 12 months

This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e. child and/or adult) then an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post.


Due to legislative changes from 1 April 2025, this post may require a different level of criminal records check done than is currently the case. If the post is assessed as a "regulated role", your appointment will be subject to joining the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme. If there is any change to what is currently required, this will be confirmed by either the Hiring Manager or the Recruitment Team. Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:



  • Lead the modernisation of in-house education, introducing more diverse, digital and blended learning approaches that improve efficiency and release clinical capacity.
  • Develop and maintain an education infrastructure that supports flexible, structured and sustainable learning across specialities and sites.
  • Ensure high-quality learning experiences for all Physiotherapy staff—consistent, equitable and tailored to individual development needs.
  • Strengthen support and supervision frameworks that enable all Physiotherapy staff to engage fully in CPD and educational pathways.

  • Have a strong passion for education, training and workforce development
  • Are confident using digital tools or keen to expand digital teaching approaches
  • Have excellent communication, organisational and leadership skills
  • Can work collaboratively across a range of teams and specialities
  • Are committed to improving staff and patient experience

Experience in supporting students, mentoring colleagues, or delivering teaching sessions is desirable.

As from 1/4/26, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. Please note that the pay scale in this advert will not be changing as a result.
