The role
As a Vehicle Electrician, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. With your skills and experience, you’ll be undertaking the servicing, repair, maintenance and overhaul of vehicles and electrical equipment, including diagnostic and inspection duties. You’ll also be carrying out equipment examination to meet production requirements.

Day to day, you’ll carry out the inspection, servicing, repair and overhaul of vehicles, assemblies, electrical and general equipment including diagnostic duties, manufacture miscellaneous items and carry out examination tasks to meet production needs. You may also carry out similar duties to occasional civilian vehicles and mechanic equipment.

  • Carry out work to the required standard and specification as detailed on the job card in accordance with the customer requirements, current regulations, local instructions, processes and other approved technical publications
  • Diagnose, inspect and assess vehicles and associated mechanical or electrical equipment in line with skills and competency
  • Ensure all job transactions are accurately recorded and carried out in accordance with current ERP processes and that work completed and time taken to complete the job is submitted daily to the department or section Supervisor
  • Completion of vehicle and equipment documentation and test certificates orreports to current standards
  • Ensure stores and equipment issued to job are used for their correct purpose and un-used or new faulty material is returned to the section or department Supervisor as soon as it is identified

Please note that the successful candidate will be required to pass a targeted medical questionnaire and/or medical examination as a condition of employment for this role.

This position involves manual work. This could include lifting, bending, using tools or standing for extended periods of time.


This role is full time 37-hours per week and will be based at our Leconfield site.

Essential experience of the Vehicle Electrician:

  • Previous experience within similar role
  • Dealership / Local Garage experience
  • A real team player with the ability to adapt and build rapport


Qualifications for the Vehicle Electrician:

  • Must have completed recognised Military or Civilian training in the relevant trade discipline or a recognised accredited Apprenticeship in relevant discipline.


Attained at least one of the following minimum academic qualifications:

  • City and Guilds Level 1, 2 & 3 (in the relevant trade discipline)
  • ONC (in the relevant trade discipline)
  • NVQ Level 3 (in the relevant trade discipline)

Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
