Role Description

We are seeking a full-time Senior Mechanical Estimator to join our work-winning team.


The successful candidate will be based at our offices on the Wirral and will work on projects from across the residential, student accommodation, commercial, education and light industrial sectors with values ranging from £1,000,000 - £8,000,000.


Reporting to the Work Winning Director, the role will also offer the candidate progression within the business.


The role will predominantly be compiling estimates and supporting the tender process, it would also be advantageous for the Senior Mechanical Estimator to have some experience within Electrical Services and design, although this is not essential.



  • Preparing of Robust Prime Cost Estimate
  • Value Engineering and Smart Tendering
  • Take offs from Drawings Interpretation of specification/Drawings
  • Engagement with, and obtaining quotes from Suppliers/Subcontractors
  • Verifying Suppliers/Subcontractors quotes and making sure they meet the requirements of the tender
  • Preparation of and attending bid settlement meetings with directors
  • Based within a commutable distance to Wirral

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent


Salary / package negotiable dependent upon experience


Essential Skills / Qualifications / Attributes:

  • Experienced in the use of Trimble Contract Master
  • Good general technical engineering knowledge of building services systems. (Mechanical & Plumbing services bias).
  • Must have good communication skills and adapt these as necessary/appropriate.
  • Must be able to build trust and confidence through competence, consistently delivering on promises, and promoting clear and timely communications internally and externally
  • Must have good IT Skills in Microsoft Outlook ,Word, , Bluebeam, Powerpoint, Excel as a minimum.
  • Must have good commercial awareness and good negotiation skills.
  • Excellent time management skills and proven in achieving deadlines.
  • Qualifications: Recognised qualification in Building Services Engineering or other appropriate engineering subject is preferred. Candidates without formal engineering qualifications may be considered if they have acquired sufficient experience to demonstrate competence in the skills necessary to fulfil the role.
  • Min 10 years experience, 5 years in an estimating role
  • Skilled at Value engineering
  • High level of awareness of commercial risks and opportunities.
  • Highly organised and driven individual committed to delivering excellence through great teamwork, sound decision making, with thorough and timely communications.
  • Mechanical bias with Electrical building services knowledge
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
