This opportunity is suited to an experienced Mechanical Engineer looking to further develop their expertise within a well-respected SME building services consultancy. The role offers the chance to work across a range of projects from concept through to completion while contributing to high-quality engineering solutions within a collaborative team environment.


The successful candidate will join an established consultancy delivering mechanical building services design across new build, redevelopment and refurbishment projects.


The Role:

The successful candidate will take a hands‑on role in the delivery of mechanical building services projects from inception through to completion.


You will be responsible for surveying, designing, coordinating, reporting and inspecting the installation of mechanical services within buildings. Working across a variety of projects, you will contribute to the full suite of building services design activities and collaborate closely with other members of the design team.


This role requires strong technical capability and the confidence to deliver detailed designs across a wide range of mechanical building services systems.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Surveying, designing and coordinating mechanical building services installations
  • Producing detailed designs across systems including LTHW heating, ventilation, air conditioning, domestic water, heat pumps, drainage, gas and plant rooms
  • Preparing reports and technical documentation supporting project delivery
  • Inspecting installations and monitoring project progress on site
  • Coordinating with project stakeholders and design team members to ensure successful delivery
  • Supporting the selection of plant and equipment and external services design
  • Contributing to projects across new build, redevelopment and refurbishment development.

What They’re Looking For:

  • ONC, HNC or degree (or equivalent) in Building Services Engineering
  • Experience aligned with the knowledge requirements for Incorporated Engineer status under CIBSE
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience within Mechanical Building Services Consultancy and Design
  • Experience producing thermal models and CAD drawings
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical building services design
  • Good understanding of Building Regulations and Part L Compliance
  • Familiarity with CIBSE AM11 Building Performance Modelling
  • Experience using AutoCAD
  • Working knowledge of Dynamic Thermal Modelling software (EDSL TAS or IES)
  • A practical understanding of building services systems and their application within the built environment
