The Role

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Building Services (MEP) team in Nottingham. You will play a key role in the design, coordination and delivery of mechanical building services systems across a wide variety of projects, supporting schemes from concept through to completion.


Working within a multidisciplinary environment, you will collaborate closely with electrical engineers, BIM technicians and other disciplines to deliver efficient, innovative and sustainable mechanical designs.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and delivery of mechanical building services systems, including HVAC, heating, cooling and ventilation
  • Produce design calculations, specifications, reports and technical documentation
  • Coordinate mechanical designs with electrical, public health, structural and architectural teams
  • Support project delivery across all stages, from concept through to detailed design and construction
  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards and best practice guidance
  • Work within a BIM environment, collaborating with technicians using Autodesk Revit
  • Attend client and design team meetings, representing the mechanical discipline
  • Contribute to low-carbon and energy-efficient design strategies
  • Support and mentor junior engineers and technicians
  • Assist with project planning, resource management and delivery to programme and budget


About You

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering
  • Proven experience in mechanical design within a Building Services (MEP) consultancy environment
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems and building services design principles
  • Experience working across multiple project stages
  • Ability to manage and deliver projects independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication and client-facing skills


Desirable:

  • Working towards or achieved Chartered status (e.g. via Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers)
  • Experience with BIM and coordination tools (e.g. Autodesk Revit)
  • Knowledge of sustainable design, decarbonisation and energy modelling principles
  • Experience within a multidisciplinary consultancy
