Salary: £95,000 - £105,000

At Data Idols, we are working with a forward-thinking technology business that is building advanced AI-driven platforms to automate complex workflows and deliver intelligent insights at scale.

This is a high-growth environment where engineering plays a critical role in shaping product capability. The business is now looking for a Senior Backend AI Engineer to take ownership of its AI and platform architecture as it continues to scale.

The Opportunity

This is a senior, high-impact role where you will own the design and delivery of both AI orchestration systems and the underlying platform infrastructure.

You will be responsible for building the layer that connects AI models, workflows, and decision-making processes, while also ensuring the platform is secure, scalable, and compliant for enterprise use.

Working closely with product, data, and engineering teams, you will play a key role in bringing AI-driven features into production and ensuring they operate reliably and efficiently.

This role suits someone who enjoys building from scratch, taking ownership, and working across both AI systems and platform engineering in a fast-moving environment.

Skills and experience

Strong experience with Python

Experience building production systems using LLMs or generative AI

Knowledge of prompt engineering, RAG, or agent-based architectures

Experience working with APIs, distributed systems, or event-driven architectures

Understanding of authentication and security protocols

Experience building secure, scalable platforms

Knowledge of observability, monitoring, and system reliability
