Salary: £22.91 per hour (£44,078 per year) + £2,000 Joining Bonus


Working Hours: 37 hours per week– Nightshift (21:00–07:00), including 1 weekend in 3


About the Opportunity

A leading UK transport operator is looking for a skilled PSV/HGV Mechanic to join its engineering team on a nightshift basis at its depot in Glasgow.


The organisation operates one of the largest fleets in the country and continues to invest in modern vehicles, advanced engineering technology, and the development of its engineering teams. Key Responsibilities

As a PSV/HGV Mechanic, you will play a vital role in ensuring the fleet remains safe, reliable, and roadworthy. Responsibilities include:



  • Diagnosing and repairing mechanical faults on PSV/HGV vehicles
  • Carrying out routine servicing and preventative maintenance
  • Replacing vehicle parts and components as required
  • Accurately identifying issues and recommending appropriate repair solutions
  • Conducting vehicle inspections using digital handheld devices where applicable
  • Attending roadside breakdowns and supporting vehicle recoveries
  • Road testing vehicles to verify faults or confirm completed repairs

Candidate Requirements
We are looking for candidates who have:

  • Level 3 NVQ (or equivalent) in Vehicle Maintenance & Repair
  • Experience working on HGV, bus, coach, or commercial vehicles
  • A valid UK driving licence
  • The ability to obtain a PCV licence (support provided if required)
  • Strong diagnostic and mechanical repair skills
  • Knowledge or experience in vehicle electrical systems (desirable)
  • The right to work in the UK
  • Experience working with buses or coaches is advantageous but not essential
