Principal Mechanical Design Engineer

Salary: GBP 65,000 - GBP 80,000 per annum (dependent on experience)


Type: Permanent


Location: Surrey


My client is a specialist manufacturer. They are looking for a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Surrey on a permanent basis.


Qualifications

  • BSc / BEng in Mechanical / Automotive / Aerospace Engineering or similar
  • 5 or more years of industry experience working in a similar Senior Mechanical or Design role
  • Good understanding of FEA, ANSYS, stress analysis, particle fluid simulation, etc.
  • Proficiency using 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Creo, Inventor, etc.
  • Experience with Siemens NX is ideal
  • Strong theoretical mechanical engineering knowledge of core principles and tight tolerances
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Proficient with MS Office
  • Excellent organisational skills and time management skills
  • Ability to work well alone and as part of a small multidisciplinary team

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and execute NPI and NPD technical activities
  • Work within the R&D multidisciplinary team
  • Plan and oversee the first build of new products and participate in validation tests
  • Use CAD for concept design and produce technical drawings
  • Lead client projects to convert ideas into designs
  • Work on new product concepts, perform development activities, and find new mechanical solutions
  • Drive product design and development processes using CAD
  • Work with high precision instrumentation products
  • Model, analyse, and develop mechanismsBuild and develop prototypes
  • Conduct design reviews
  • Produce required documentation
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives
