Overview

A new vacancy has been created for a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to join a growing Building Services team in Woking.


This is a senior-level opportunity suited to a technically strong mechanical engineer who can take ownership of projects, lead design delivery, and play a key role within the wider engineering team.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the mechanical design of building services projects from concept through to completion
  • Take technical ownership of HVAC, heating, cooling and ventilation systems
  • Produce and review detailed mechanical calculations and specifications
  • Oversee drawing production and ensure compliance with UK standards
  • Coordinate with electrical, public health and other multidisciplinary teams
  • Attend client and design team meetings
  • Mentor and support junior engineers
  • Contribute to maintaining high technical and quality standards

Requirements

  • Proven experience operating at the Senior or Principal Mechanical Engineer level
  • Strong background in Building Services mechanical design
  • Excellent technical knowledge of HVAC and associated systems
  • Experience delivering projects across multiple RIBA stages
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to manage workload and support project deadlines

You will be a confident and experienced Mechanical Design Engineer ready to step into (or continue within) a principal-level position. This role offers the opportunity to influence project delivery and contribute to the continued growth of a technically focused engineering team in Woking.
