Job Role: Plumber (Level 2) | Location: HMP Swaleside, Brabazon Rd, Eastchurch, Isle of Sheppey ME12 4AX | Salary: £36,066.96 per annum + 5% additional in recognition of weekend working | Contract: Permanent, full time, 39 hours per week


We are seeking a Level 2 qualified Plumber / Mechanical Engineer to join our team at HMP Swaleside, a category B high security adult male prison.

HMP Swaleside operates as a self-contained facility with a Facilities Maintenance Team dedicated to ensuring smooth and safe operation, impacting prisoners, staff, visitors and the wider community.


As a Plumber / Mechanical Engineer (Level 2) you will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced colleagues across trades (Plumbers, Electricians, Carpenters, Painters, Cleaners, Administrators, and others) dedicated to making a positive difference and providing a safe and secure environment for all.

Responsibilities

  • Work as part of the Facilities Maintenance Team to support the safe, secure operation of HMP Swaleside.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to maintain mechanical and plumbing systems within the establishment.
  • Contribute to a safe environment for prisoners, staff and visitors by adhering to safety and security protocols.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 certificate in a mechanical or plumbing discipline or equivalent
  • Good Health & Safety knowledge
  • Excellent organisational, time management and people skills
