This is a part time post - 18.75 hours that includes some weekend working on a rota basis.


Main duties of the job

To assist in the development of Therapy Services by supporting Therapists in the assessment and treatment of patients and the day-to-day running of the therapy environment.


To accept patients referred by a Physiotherapist and carry as own patient caseload. Treat patients according to set treatment protocols, monitoring patient progression, make alterations (within protocols and scope of practice) to patient treatment programmes as required.


Work unsupervised regularly, reporting back patient progress and informing therapists of any problems.


For a defined and delegated group of patients - to undertake the assessment of patients, using investigative and analytical skills. To use clinical reasoning and utilise a range of assessment and treatment skills and options to formulate treatment programmes.

Person Specification
Knowledge

  • Good general education up to GCSE or equivalent.
  • NVQ Level lll or in BTEC national diploma appropriate area or equivalent relevant qualification such as or sports science / health related degree.
  • knowledge of NHS working or neurological Therapy
  • Evidence of recent study, e.g. Anatomy and Physiology ITEC, Access to Therapy course etc.

Skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate with patients with impaired communication abilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Able to demonstrate empathy, motivate and persuade patients with impaired cognitive abilities or physical senses
  • Good organisational skills
  • Able to undertake the physical nature of the post

Experience

  • Minimum of 1 years' experience of working in an acute healthcare setting.
  • Experience of working with elderly, injured/disabled people
  • Shows a commitment to working at RCHT
  • Able to work as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate with patients with impaired communication abilities
  • Experience as a Technical Instructor/rehab Technician lII working in health or similar post.
  • Experience of working in the NHS
