Overview

We are looking for a dynamic Physiotherapist with an interest in inpatient rehabilitation to join Herts & Essex Hospital in Bishops Stortford, Hertfordshire on a 9 month fixed term contract. The role is open to both newly qualified and experienced Physiotherapists and offers experience in rehabilitation within an inpatient setting.

Responsibilities
  • Provide a rehabilitation service on a 1:1 and group basis under the direction of the Lead Therapists.
  • Assess and treat patients with a wide range of conditions, including orthopaedics, frailty, and amputees.
  • Demonstrate excellent clinical reasoning and give expert advice, guidance and information to patients, their carers, and health and social care professionals to facilitate safe and timely discharges.
  • Deputise for the Lead Therapists as necessary and provide supervision for junior staff, therapy support workers and students.
  • Work within a full multidisciplinary team including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, nurses, doctors and support from adult care services to support patient care.
Requirements and qualifications
  • Registered Physiotherapist with an interest in inpatient rehabilitation; able to contribute to a range of conditions including orthopaedics, frailty and amputees.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; capable of providing guidance to patients, carers and non-clinical colleagues.
  • Willingness to supervise and support junior staff and students as needed.
  • Good planning and organisational skills; able to work independently under direction and as part of a team.
  • A full driving licence and access to a car for business use are essential unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010.
Contract and work pattern
  • 9 month fixed term contract.
  • Weekend work pattern approximately 1 in 4/5.
  • Position may involve admission pathways via the Integrated Community Team and direct admissions from the community to a designated step-up bed.
