  • 2 references – where possible we require a 3‑year history.
  • Qualification – Physio/Occupational Therapy qualification and registration with HCPC.
  • Medical Clearance – Pre‑placement health assessment (PPHA).
  • Essential Car Documentation – Must hold a full valid driving licence and provide a personal car; Essential Car User Allowance provided.
  • DBS clearance – Enhanced DBS check required under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975.
  • Use of Artificial Intelligence – Applicants must provide truthful, factually accurate statements; plagiarism may lead to withdrawal or disciplinary action.

MEAP is a citywide service that carries out comprehensive and holistic assessments for both children and adults within their own homes. You will assess for complex equipment and adaptations and complete Moving and Handling risk assessments/training for family and paid carers. You will provide a comprehensive and streamlined service to individuals to maximise independence, choice, safety and quality of life.

About the Candidate

We are looking for a driven, dynamic and passionate Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist who wants to make a real difference to the quality of life of Manchester’s residents, to join MEAP.


Desirable requirements that would be useful in this role: resiliency, empathy, compassion, motivation, organisation, excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to produce comprehensive reports in a timely manner, critical and innovative thinking, knowledge and experience of functional assessment, moving and handling, equipment, adaptations and assistive technology, understanding of relevant social care and disability legislation.


You should be able to maintain the standards set out by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and Royal College of Occupational Therapy (RCOT). You may already be working as an Occupational Therapist, or you may be newly qualified and want to try something new with the local authority.


Working hours are Monday‑Friday, with no work on bank holidays or weekends, a 35‑hour working week, supporting a positive work/life balance. Your induction will be tailored to you so you can learn at your own pace.
