About this job

To treat a complex caseload in the Neuro Outpatient Department, and other locations as service requires using advanced and highly developed skills.


To accept clinical responsibility for a designated caseload of patients and to organise this effectively and efficiently with regard to clinical priorities and use of time.


To undertake the comprehensive assessment of patients, including those with a complex presentation, using highly specialised assessment and clinical reasoning skills to formulate individualised management and treatment plans, utilising a wide range of treatment skills and options to formulate a specialised programme of care.


To be professional, legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of your own work.


To ensure a high standard of clinical care for the patients under your management and support Band 5s to do the same.


To assist in the running of the Neuro Out Patient Department, and to deputise for the Clinical Specialist if required, including attending meetings, MND Forums and others as required.


To take part in working parties/forums, developing policy changes within Neuro Out Patient Department which will impact on all service users.


To work with the Clinical Specialist in developing and implementing the strategic and operation management of the physiotherapy service.


To communicate effectively and sensitively with patients and those involved around patient care using a variety of skills and written information to maximise rehabilitation potential and to ensure understanding of condition.


There may be barriers to communication such as sensory loss impairments, cognitive deficits and dysphasia.
