Mechanical/Fire Suppression Design Engineer

What you will do

  • Working as part of the Marine design team, based in Manchester UK, on mechanical design aspects of marine fire suppression projects, ensuring precision and adherence to client specifications.
  • Draft detailed CAD drawings and data sheets for fire protection systems tailored to the unique requirements of each project.
  • Develop a variety of drawings, including mechanical schematics, P&I&D's, Equipment Datasheets, and Hydraulic Calculations.
  • Interpret and apply Approval Authority rules and Regulations.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Design Engineer and Project Manager, offering valuable design and CAD support.

What we look for
Essential

  • Exceptional communication skills for effective collaboration with clients and the internal project team.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Hydraulic Calculation package (FireCAD or equivalent).
  • Ability to interpret clients' technical specifications.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office packages.
  • Full UK Driving License.
  • Willingness to obtain SC UK MOD Security clearance.

Preferred

  • HNC/HND in Mech Engineering (Engineering Background).
  • Experience in the Marine Industry.
  • Previous involvement in MoD contracts.
  • Background in the Fire Protection industry. With experience in Sprinkler, Foam, Local Application Watermist and Gaseous (Novec, C02, Inergen) fire suppression systems.
  • Security Clearance
